The Power of Pin Trading

Thursday, August 13th, 2009

Many people come across our site not knowing much about trading pins, just that a coach or parent has insisted that the team HAS to have them for their World Series or Softball Championship event.

Baseball trading pins are one of the most popular traditions experienced at every age level and organization across the nation. Custom pins with options such as blinking lights, spinners and glitter help to really cultivate a sense of value and uniqueness with the players, officials and many parents alike!

Generally teams will order baseball pins or softball pins at the start of their league, however many will order custom pins commemorating league championships or identifying the location where their World Series or softball tournament will be held. The higher your team advances in tournament rounds, the more desirable your trading pin will become. Just like with Major League Baseball, trading pins and collectibles from the best teams are usually the most sought after!

First time pin traders at a Little League World Series event may find it
to be an almost overwhelming experience, as young and old gather around exchanging trading pins and adding to the electric “buzz” in the air.

After making a trade or two and acquiring pins from Little League teams
across the country, most players become hooked! The main comment first time trading pin customers make when returning to order baseball pins the next season is “I had no idea these trading pins are so popular!”

Little League Trading Pin Highlights of the Week

Below are some of the trading pin designs ordered this week - check back to see if your baseball or softball team’s design is featured!

The Hoover Hammerheads used a pinstripe on the background of their baseball trading pin to break up the open space while keeping a clean and uncluttered appearance. The shark logo turning and becoming part of the team name is a great way to tie both together as the centerpiece of a trading pin. hammer heads trading pins
baseball trading pins The Keller Aces baseball team used a silver metal on their custom pins, accenting the darker blue color in their team colors very well. The polished silver will also allow their baseball trading pins to be much more reflective in direct light or sunlight, really helping their baseball pin to stand out from the crowd.
The custom trading pin designed by the Plantation Stars makes use of custom cutouts to give their pin a open, more 3-D look and feel. Rather than using a fill color in the area between their logo and the outer circle of baseballs, they chose to have this space hand cut out of the mold. baseball pins

Little League Trading Pins Highlight of the Week

Friday, May 1st, 2009
Head’s up Little League and softball teams! The competition for the best trading pins at this year’s baseball and fastpitch tournaments is heating up! Spotlighted below are some of the pins ordered this week.

The West Boca Panthers designed an eye-popping trading pin with their panther bursting out of a “P”, with a glitter effect inside the letter. The baseball bat barrel and handle extending outside the background helps to add a nice shape to the trading pin as well.

baseball pins The Titans Baseball Club took a non-traditional approach with including player names and numbers in their baseball trading pin. By having baseball bats extending down from the team name, they were able to place the names inside the bat barrels and cap each end with a baseball containing the player’s number.
The Littleton Falcons created a classic trading pin design with the large, striking baseball in the background, and a very bold, tough-looking falcon mascot as the centerpiece. The bright colors and large, strong lettering helps make this baseball pin stand out in a crowd while not being overly gaudy. Including “2009″ in with the grain of the bat makes it noticeable but also understated and is a very nice touch. world series pins
custom pins The Litchfield Arsenal baseball pin combines many smaller elements into a great trading pin with lots of action. Utilizing several smaller images that contain less detail but are easily recognizable can be even more effective than a single larger mascot or logo when done right!
The Navajo Allstars have a great trading pin design that is cut to shape around the large city location and the Indian spear, creating a sleek, organic design. This is a perfect example of how a baseball pin or softball pin does not have to contain a large amount of elements to create a beautiful and eye-catching trading pin. custom pins

Making Your Trading Pins Stand out with Custom Options

One of the most exciting aspects of pin trading is the competition between teams to outdo each other on trading day. The Oklahoma City Junior Blazers had a design idea which translated into a great trading pin.

By including a player dressed in their uniform and converting this portion of the hockey pin into a slider, they helped their custom trading pin to stand out from the crowd!
